Gestion d’entreprise · Metrology and Calibration

An uncalibrated caliper, a retouching monitor out of profile, a scale that reads high. The Metrology module controls the whole instrument: range, resolution, maximum permissible error, point-by-point calibration with uncertainty, the certificate on file, a traceable reference standard, checkout and loan, and repeatability and reproducibility studies. Most important of all, a blocked instrument is refused at the moment of measurement, not discovered during an audit.

O problema e a saída

A dor

The calibration spreadsheet exists, but nobody looks at it, and the overdue instrument keeps measuring on the production floor.

Com o Partiu Formatura

Status recalculated every day, an alert before the due date and a usage hold: the overdue instrument is refused at inspection and at production reporting, with the reason on the screen of whoever was about to measure.

A dor

The laboratory wrote pass on the certificate, and nobody checked whether the error fits the part tolerance.

Com o Partiu Formatura

Maximum permissible error registered on the instrument and calibration recorded point by point. A point outside the limit fails the calibration even when the certificate says pass, and opens a nonconformity on its own.

A dor

The certificate is in a drawer, nobody knows which standard was used, and the audit asks for the traceability chain.

Com o Partiu Formatura

Certificate attached to the record, reference standard registered with its own certificate and a link showing which standard was used in which calibration. The chain opens in one click.

A dor

The instrument is gone, somebody took it to the event and nobody knows who has it.

Com o Partiu Formatura

Checkout and return recorded with the person responsible, location and expected return date. A loaned instrument does not show as available to anyone else, and an overdue return takes it off everyone's list.

A dor

Two operators measure the same part and get different results, and the discussion turns into opinion.

Com o Partiu Formatura

MSA study with repeatability and reproducibility calculated by average and range and by ANOVA, with the decision recorded: above 30 percent fails, between 10 and 30 requires justification.

01

A retouching monitor out of profile

O cenário

The studio delivers an entire batch with a color cast, and the retouching was approved on the monitor that was wrong.

Com o sistema

The monitor is registered as an instrument with a profiling interval, the hold switched on and an owner. Once it expires, the visual color inspection refuses to use it.

O resultado

The defect stops being created, and the cost of poor quality for that batch ceases to exist.

02

A caliper that fails its annual calibration

O cenário

The laboratory returns the instrument with deviation above the acceptable limit at two of the five points.

Com o sistema

The points are entered with reading and uncertainty. The system fails it, does not push the expiry date forward, puts the instrument into maintenance and opens the nonconformity.

O resultado

The measurements taken with it stay traceable through the inspection, and the decision on what to do with the product is made with data, not from memory.

03

A certification audit asking for traceability

O cenário

The auditor picks an instrument and asks for the chain up to the national standard.

Com o sistema

The record shows the calibration, the attached certificate, the accredited laboratory with its accreditation number and validity, and the reference standard used along with its own certificate.

O resultado

The evidence comes out on the spot, with no folder to hunt for and no call to the laboratory.

  1. 1RegistrationThe instrument is registered with range, resolution, maximum permissible error, interval and criticality.
  2. 2CalibrationThe calibration is recorded point by point, with the laboratory, the certificate and the standards used.
  3. 3DecisionThe system calculates point by point and decides. A failure opens a nonconformity and keeps the instrument out of use.
  4. 4UseAt inspection and at production reporting, whoever is about to measure picks the instrument. A blocked one is refused with the reason.
  5. 5SurveillanceThe daily job flags calibration, standard and accreditation expiries, plus overdue returns.

Instrument Record

What it measures, over what range and with how much error still acceptable.

  • Code, name, type, manufacturer, model, serial number, asset tag and owner
  • Unit, measuring range, resolution and maximum permissible error
  • A, B or C criticality: A is the instrument that measures what rejects product
  • Decision rule per instrument: with uncertainty or simple error
  • Default laboratory pulled from the supplier register
  • Location, status and full history on the same screen

Calibration With a Criterion

The result comes from the calculation, and the calculation is kept.

  • Calibration points with nominal value, reading, expanded uncertainty and coverage factor k
  • Error calculated per point and compared against the point limit or the instrument limit
  • Calculated result and reported result stored side by side
  • A point outside the limit fails, even when the laboratory reports a pass
  • A failure does not push the expiry date forward and opens a nonconformity automatically
  • Rule and limit frozen into the record: changing the instrument later does not rewrite the past

Certificates and Laboratories

The document that proves it, attached where people look for it.

  • Certificate in PDF, PNG or JPG attached to the calibration
  • Laboratory picked from the supplier register, with no free-typed names
  • RBC (Brazilian calibration network) accreditation with number and validity, required when the laboratory is accredited
  • Accreditation expired on the calibration date blocks the record
  • An alert when the accreditation of the instrument's laboratory is about to expire
  • Number, file and submission date kept together

Reference Standards

The chain that links your measurement to the national standard.

  • Standard registered with its own certificate, validity and uncertainty
  • A link showing which standards were used in each in-house calibration
  • A standard expired on that date blocks the calibration that tried to use it
  • Reverse traceability: which instruments depend on this standard
  • Alerts for expired and soon-to-expire standards in the daily job

Checkout and Location

Where it is and who has it, without relying on memory.

  • Checkout with owner, location, purpose and expected return date
  • Return with condition checked: damage blocks the instrument immediately
  • A loaned instrument drops off the list for anyone who is not the holder
  • An overdue return takes the instrument off everyone's list
  • Daily alert for overdue returns

MSA, Repeatability and Reproducibility

The measurement system gets measured too.

  • A study with parts, operators and trials, with every reading stored one by one
  • Calculation by average and range and by analysis of variance, side by side
  • Percentage of total variation and of tolerance, plus the number of distinct categories
  • Above 30 percent fails and opens a nonconformity
  • Between 10 and 30 percent requires a recorded justification from whoever approved it

A Hold That Holds on the Floor

The rule that makes the module worth having.

  • An instrument that is overdue, never calibrated, under maintenance, inactive or manually blocked is refused
  • Manual hold with reason, author and date, released only by someone with permission
  • An inspection criterion can require the instrument to be named in the measurement answer
  • The production reporting terminal refuses a blocked instrument and shows the reason
  • Monthly calibration calendar and a dashboard of overdue, due soon and blocked instruments
